Fourteen going on Forties

Shoes- Crossroads, Skirt- Abercrombie and Fitch, Top- Boheme, Turban- Boheme

I do apologize,
I've worn the same shoes for two shoots in a row,
can you guys still love me?

 Real definition of turban:
Turban- a kind of headwear based on cloth winding

My definition of turban:
Turban- THE LORD IN HAT FORM

I felt rather dashing in my 'get up', I must admit.  I think the second I put on my turban/headband/god/hat-thing I felt like I was Rosie the Riveter,
fighting for womens' rights,
except I was doing absolutely nothing to fight for womens' rights.

I felt like I was back in the forties,
and I think my playlist of classic 40's swing music influenced my dancing around on set
whilst forcing my cat to dance with me

Until next week,

Keep swinging your skirts,

And buy a turban ;)

Now you see me, now you don't

Shoes- Cross Roads Trading Co., Sparkly shirt/skirt thrifted, Yellow skirt forever 21, Hawaiian shirt thrifted

Now you see me, now you don't.
I think my cat has real potential as a model.
I mean,
look at that fur.
Purrr.
Although I must admit she was doing anything but purring while we did the shoot.  She wasn't a big fan of my shirt.  It outshone her in a few shots.  Who knew it was possible?

Did I mention I'm insanely completely ultra excited?
Every photographer/blogger/designer/wierdo needs a spot, if you know what I mean.
Somewhere to relax, sketch, full out nap, play with your divas/cats, and photograph yourself in some fun get-up.

I found mine.
The ivy covered fence of my front porch pairs perfectly with the antique (spray painted light blue from goodwill) chairs placed elegantly alongside the tree-branch-clippings that my mother has not had time to clean up.  I think it turned out rather ethereally, no?

Until the next burning hot summer day,

Flowers and Florals

Go outside.
Talk to people.  Smell the roses.  Observe gardens.

I know,
I know,
it's hard leaving your computer,
..and that half finished bag of Hot Cheetos.

But the air outside is finally warming up and you can feel the light breeze on your legs as you try to discreetly hold your skirt down and try not to stumble in your way-too-high-for-your-age heels.

Over the past few weeks I've been collecting several ideas for what my spring wardrobe will consist of.

I'm predicting that since florals were such a big spring 'thing' last year,
they probably won't circle back again.
So I thought, what is the opposite of soft, flowy florals?

Leather, hard lace, combat boots, velvet skirts, studs, beanies, platform sandals..

Who said punk rock couldn't be the bomb.com?

Owls with Cats Eyes

Doc Martens shoes, Justina's owl sweater and fabulous cat eye glasses, Forever21 shorts

Bandana's are like the bad boys of fashion,
along with
motorcycle jackets,
doc martens
and basically anything with fringe or sequins.

Now as you can see,
we're both wearing Docs.

Am I the only one mesmerized by the complete and total fabulous-ness of these shoes?

And please,

Tell me you all like sequins?

Still View

Shorts- guess/thrifted Shoes- mossimo/thrifted Shirt & belt- thrifted

I feel like the orange shoes and striped tee have a prison vibe, but taking photos with @abentpieceofwire was anything but a prison.

Well, we were shooting with wire..

But really.
The shoot was so much fun.

What happens when two fabulous people meet?

You'll have to wait and see,
but I promise you,
it will be ultra-fabulous.

Much like my shoes.
Who needs friends when you have gorgeous orange wedges?
I mean, please, they even got their own post.
They're just that fabulous.

Do I say fabulous too much?

Yes, yes I do.

Psst.

Check me out on lookbook.

The Alphabet, but better

Shoes shoes shoes..

Who needs friends?!?!

Look at these shoes.

I want to marry them.

No, no I want to have a secret relationship with each pair.

I mean, kids saying 'A is for apple, B is for bird.."

Those kids are wrong.
A is for artisan crafted wooden pumps,
B is for bedazzled stilettos,
C is for chunky heels..

Stuffed animals? Pshh, mine were shoes.

P.S.

Sorry for the size of the last two pictures, I don't know what's wrong with them..

Fail or Fab?

Well, I have to say the blue hair didn't work out how I hoped,
But I could probably still be an extra in The Smurfs 2.
Or an extra in grease?
That stuff is like glue.
But fabulous-smurfy-blue glue.

Insanity

Ugh, guess who's home sick again.  I swear I must have some disease.  Maybe insanity.  Whenever I tell my dad I'm sick he says:

"Yeah, in the head!"

Ah, nothing like parental love.  But anyways, since I'll be home all day I should be planning another shoot, but I'll wait till tomorrow.  I have something great planned for you guys.

Now tell me.  Do you like blue?

The Bible(s).. Well, sort of.

Above this my friends, are my Bible(s).  Well, sort of.  If I had my monstrous collection of Vogue's it would be complete, but I don't think I can lift them anymore the stack is so heavy.  All right, the Bible(s) aren't mine, they're the libraries, but hey, who said I had to return them?  For the love of fashion, I should be able to practice my religion daily for the rest of my life(s).

What.

I might be a cat.  This could be my 3rd or 4th life, and we'd never know.

Draped Denim

These pictures were taken by my peculiar friend Emily,
and I must admit I absolutely love them.
To get a rustic but heavy and slightly masculine effect,
layer different shades of denim garments,
(jeans, shirts, dresses, etc.),
and add an accessory that pops.

Keep it in Check

Another great shot with Emily.  Classic Doc Martens, a thrifted mens button up shirt, (still slightly better than those hawaiin shirts my dad buys every year just to kill me inside), pink torn shorts, and a black bow bandeau.  I was totally comfortable during the shoot and I felt fabulous about the cat eye Emily gave me too.

Combat Boots- Where to get them, and how to wear them

Kiss your boots and sneakers goodbye for now, but don't really kiss them, your friends will run home, not walk, run.  No matter how far they live.  Not speaking from a personal experience or anything..

Combat boots are my number one go to item for any season.  They can be worn with jeans, leggings, tights, skirts, dresses, shorts, anything except sweats.  We all have those days, but I suggest going all out if you're going to not try, so pair your sweats with an old rugged sweatshirt and dirty sneakers.  But anyways, where can you find them for a price that isn't going to force you to break open all your precious piggy banks and stuff your parents and friends wallets with 'IOU's'.  Open up your laptop and go straight to this:

http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/shop?price.currency=USD&price.from=0&price.to=50&query=combat+boots

Voila, grungy-punk heaven in several shades and styles.
A personal favorite of mine I found was:

http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_60543+446860138_-1?CMP=AFC-POLYVORE&awc=2194_1362626629_8c4d07a826ffd7d0906f6ba3b370ae84

The green color keeps it fresh while the classic style keeps it versatile.  I am the proud owner and keeper and mother and lover of a great vintage pair of original black Doc Martens that I mix and match frequently with different colored shoe laces because it makes me feel like a punk rock rainbow.

All for now,

Name Brands? Thrift, people, thrift!

Hollister
Abercrombie and Fitch
Gilly Hicks

I would practically be in the stores themselves just by walking through the hallways of my school.  What I've never understood is why they are so popular around the world.  Yes, I have gone through my name brand phase, but it's over and it is not coming back.  Every garment looks the same, and costs about 20 times as much as it worth in quality.  Why don't people thrift?

New Begginings

Ah, the first post.  Similar to a babies' first words, but better and more interesting, because babies all begin with the same words, but artists do not.  I've never believed in new beginnings, and because of that, I've never been good at beginning things.  As said in the extremely violent and, awful, (despite what your teacher says), book April Morning, I am quite frequently  "Slow to start and quick to finish.".  But this blog is different.  Perhaps this post will not be, but it will be what it was made to be and nothing more or less.

The old saying 'A picture speaks a thousand words', is most definently incorrect.  A picture does not speak at all, it's just a picture, if it were meant to speak it would be spoken, no?  I have never been intrigued by what I have heard, but more by what I have seen.  The cry of a cat is much less facinating then the pale pink of their nose and the delicacy of their bone structure.  But enough about cats and babies and pictures and boring books about wars, I assume you are wondering what this post is about?  I wish I could tell you, but quite truthfully, I don't know myself.
